New Kicks

My old running shoes had over 700 kilometers on them. That's far too many. Sadly Saucony discontinued that type and it took me awhile to find a replacement.

And then I discovered Altra.

OMG. I love them.

I've only had them three days, but already I can see myself buying these as my next pair as well. :)

Speedy.

Altra Provision 2.5
If I remember to, later on when I've worn them more, I'll actually do a review of them.

Feline Fridays

You might not be aware, but there is a third cat in my life -- of course I have Ezra and Ruby -- but I also have Rosco. He's a handsome devil with a splendid personality. He resides at my work. I have a great and fun job. I manage a pet speciality store. He's the boss ... and he knows it.

Feline Fridays

That time I was joined for a nap on the couch ...

I was laying on the couch watching TV; on my side, knees curled up. In about five minutes time Ezra had hopped up and snuggled in the crook of my belly/legs. A few minutes later, not to be left out, Ruby climbed onto my legs and propped herself up on my hips/thighs. Then we all fell asleep.

Ruby and Ezra snuggles.
I woke up first (after about 30 minutes) but I stayed awhile longer as to not disturb them. And then I had to move ... they were none too pleased ...

What the heck?!?!?!

Dawg Day Monday

The other day I downloaded the Snapchat app for my phone. In all honesty I never wanted it, but needed it for a work project (seriously, lol) and now I'm hooked. Not at sending snapchats to friends, but I am loving the different filters, and the cutesy and hilarious stuff that can be done with it. What better subjects for fun with filters than these two handsome fellas?

The original

Egypt Filter
I can't remember which filter this was, but I'm really digging it.
And ... face swap ... I can't stop laughing ... but that's for another day ...

Feline Fridays

The girls have a new favourite spot to view the world from. Way up high on the fridge. Watch out as you walk by though, Ruby is shady and may just give the back of your head a little smack.

Kitten Approved

It's my day off, which generally means binge watching a TV show (today it's Jessica Jones), doing laundry and other housework, as well as knitting. I set my WIP down for five minutes to switch over loads from the washer to the dryer and this is what I came back to.

Ruby approves!

As it seems, Ruby approves of Ethan's new Greyson sweater. I only hope he loves it as much! :)

I have two rows of k1 p1 ribbing to go of the bottom hem before I bind off ... and then it's onto the sleeves. I'm not looking forward to the sleeves (so boring) but at least they'll go relatively fast as they are a simple stockinette stitch and worsted weight yarn.

First WIP of the New Year

Back in November or early December I stumbled upon the reminisce of the tent sale at my local Lens Mill store. Ethan had been asking for a new Greyson sweater for quite awhile, but I hadn't bought any yarn for it yet. Well, he's a 9 year old boy and wears his clothes hard, so I definitely wanted something durable, super washable and inexpensive. I found packs of 6 balls of Patons Canadiana for $18. HOLY POODLES. That was a good price. I grabbed a pack of the burnt orange colour and stashed it away until after my xmas knitting was finished. Well on January 5th I cast on and I've made good progress so far. I'm almost done the body. If my calculations are correct I only have about 4" left to go. So far I've used up nearly 2 balls of yarn. I imagine I'll start on the 3rd one before I finish the body, but my overall guess is I'll only go through four of them for the whole sweater.

The last time I knit this sweater for him I did it in a size 5. This time I'm doing it in a size 10. It'll be a little big on him but that's okay; I'm actually knitting the sleeves and body slightly longer than called for so he gets more use out of it. I'm smart like that. ;)

Feline Fridays

When it's a cold wintry January day and it's nap time, the best place to be is with a pal.

First Ezra snuggled with Dozer ...

Then Ruby had a turn ...
